Is it best to change auto insurance companies near the end of a coverage period?

Stuck in the Middle Ages asked:
Or doesn’t it make a difference?
Or doesn’t it make a difference?
I just renewed with my carrier, but I checked today and found that my $1,250 rate (GEICO) could be $1,050 with one carrier (Travelers) and $986 with another (Liberty Mutual).
If I change now (at the start of my new coverage period), would I lose money due to administrative fees? If so, would it only be a few dollars?
Thanks!
